Best Essential Mixes of 2012

2012 was an incredible year for BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix, with a number of top of the line mixes from rising stars like Hardwell (who is now the #1 DJ in the world according the DJ Mag’s most recent poll), Alesso, Flux Pavilion, and Steve Aoki to name a few. As someone who loves listening to electronic music regardless of if I’m at work, at the gym, or partying, I had to pay homage to this great year in music.

There were also some strong mixes that were broadcast live, so the quality of the recording alone was what kept them off this list, otherwise there would definitely be a few additions. If you have the luxury of listening to music while you work, hopefully you'll take the time to check out all of these Essential Mixes.

I'm clueless as to how The Essential Mix of the Year 2012 was awarded to Nicolas Jaar. I gave up on figuring it out and I'm just going to assume it's a European thing at this point.
